Traditional Chinese Medicine is a 5,000 year old, comprehensive medical system that involves assessing a patient's physical, emotional and spiritual state.
This is done through observing the patient's tongue, feeling various pulse positions on their wrists that reflect the state of internal organs, and asking the patient questions. The practitioner looks for a root cause that has disrupted the patient's vital energy and is causing an imbalance or disease to manifest.
The practitioner then uses acupuncture, massage, moxibustion (heat therapy involving the burning of mugwort leaves), cupping (the use of suction cups placed over tight back and neck muscles), and herbal medicine to bring about rebalancing and health.
Acupuncture involves the insertion of fine, sterile metal needles through the skin at specific points on the body. These points lay along meridian lines which transport electromagnetic energy throughout the body connecting all of the organs and tissues. The needles are used to redirect energy flow when it is no longer flowing optimally.
Unlike western medicine, acupuncture assists the body in making natural changes from within.
Acupuncture and TCM can treat chronic and acute situations such as:
Acupuncture can also be used for personal growth and preventative medicine.
