About her practice: Classical Chinese medicine has been practiced for over 2,000 years. It is based on the Daoist concept that the delicate balance between yin and yang explains all things in nature. The health of a being is based upon the harmony and balance of yin and yang within the body. Disease is caused when yin and yang become imbalanced. These imbalances are caused by a variety of internal or external factors, including but not limited to poor diet, lack of proper rest, overexertion, and exposure to the elements. Classical Chinese medicine can be thought of as a tree with five branches, rooted firmly in its ancient roots of classical texts. These five branches include acupuncture, herbs, nutrition, qi gon and tui na. Treatment is based on the understanding that single symptoms must take into account their relationship to the whole person.
